Kalshi joins Digital Chamber to bolster prediction-market lobbying

Aug 11, 2026 16:30:43

Kalshi has joined the Digital Chamber, a Washington, D.C.-based crypto trade group, as a new member. The Digital Chamber announced the membership on Tuesday. The group said it will work with the federally regulated prediction market to educate policymakers on how federally regulated event contracts differ from gaming products. Kalshi was founded in 2018. The move strengthens the Digital Chamber's coalition as it lobbies Congress and regulators for favorable treatment of event contracts.

Kalshi's Digital Chamber membership gives it a shared lobbying vehicle with crypto's established Capitol Hill relationships, at a moment when both industries face overlapping threats. A bipartisan Senate bill would ban sports event contracts nationwide, and state attorneys general have already pierced federal preemption claims against CFTC-registered platforms. The Chamber's existing policy staff and lawmaker contacts let Kalshi amplify its voice without building a standalone government-affairs team from scratch. That shared cost structure matters most if the Senate bill advances this fall: a united front with crypto allies turns a single-platform problem into a broader innovation-framing fight. The risk is message dilution. Crypto's sprawling agenda — stablecoins, exchange oversight, custody rules — may crowd out event-contract specifics in high-stakes negotiations. Kalshi must still carry its own direct lobbying or see its narrow issue buried in the Chamber's larger portfolio.
